Photography and Pic Collage

Mrs Geary is sending us out on photo missions. We are working on taking good pictures and displaying these in Pic Collage.

Mission 1 this week is to find...

Something Red
Find something V shaped
Something rough
Take a picture of a rainbow.
Take a picture of each other with a happy face.

Here are today's examples.
Mrs Geary will put the other students work into Picture folder of our blog when they are completed..

Today we looked at the finished Pic Collage samples and discussed what a good photo is.
Some pointers
If the first picture isn't good, try again.
Get up close to the object you are taking a photo of.
Don't take a photo into the sun.

A Woo Hoo Story

We are all so proud of the story Jamie wrote independently today. He has been working on writing stories that are interesting and longer. Keep up the great work Jamie!

One day a daddy lion went out hunting for the mum. He saw a stripy zebra. He crept up to the zebra. Next...
Pounce, he jumped on the zebra but he missed. Then he turned around and at the back of him was the zebra.
Then the chase began!
Through the wheat, swish, swish, swish.
Through the water splish, splosh, splish, splosh.
Through the mud, slurp, slurp, slurp.
Next the lion pounced onto the zebra, this time he didn't miss. Then he took it back to his home and they ate it up.
The end

This art looks amazing with a black boarder around it.

Writing in Pairs

On Friday the students collaborated together and wrote stories.
Examples of their work are in the writing folder.

The Mouse Chase
“Meow,” said the big fat orange cat.
He was trying to catch a little grey mouse. The mouse ran into his hole and the cat put his paw in the hole.
“Got you!” yelled the cat.
He dragged the mouse out of his hole with his claws. The mouse was squealing loudly.
“Help me,” squeaked the mouse.
Then the cat chomped on the mouse.
“Mmmm,” said the cat.

Junior Assembly

We were hosting the Junior Assembly today. Our class did actions to a story called The Lion Hunt. The sound isn't that great on the video but your child can tell you what is happening. I was impressed with how confident the children were and how they followed instructions.

Sorry I downloaded the wrong video.
This is a poem we did at the beginning of the year.

Sorry I cant seem to download the video.

Umbrella Up

Yesterday I was on back gate duty, it was raining and lots of people had umbrellas. It was interesting to see the variety and colours of the umbrellas but the cutest were little animal ones.

Winter Warmer

Today we read "The Pocket Dogs" and then did this activity. We had to draw patterns on the pocket and colour the dogs in beautifully.

Food Chain Story

Woo Hoo! I was so impressed with Ella's story. I love the describing words she uses and the way her story is like a cycle.
More Food Chain stories can be seen in the Writing Folder.

We are Hungry!
On a winter morning a little sprout popped out of the frosty, white grass.
Over a couple of weeks the little sprout grew bigger, straighter and stronger,
Then…
a little, tiny, hungry caterpillar wriggled along and started to
nibble one piece and then the next piece of the plant. Soon not a single leaf was left.
Suddenly…
Swoop!
A mother magpie dived down and gobbled the little hungry
caterpillar. Then she went back to her nest.
Later a fox came along and spied the mother magpie
looking for worms in the deep green grass. He pounced and grabbed the magpie and tore it to pieces. But sadly he got a bone stuck in his throat and he couldn't breathe,  he slowly died.
Some bugs and worms started eating the fox and he turned into lovely soil.
