What had Dillon done? Dillon had broken a window with a ball.
Had he done it before? How do you know that? Yes because his dad said you will have to pay for it this time. He had broken a window before.

Listen to a Story
Another section of the daily 5 is listen to a story.

Independent Writing

Publishing their journal stories on the computer.

Publishing
The students need to read through their stories carefully so the picture they draw matches what they have said.

The Daily 5 also includes time for writing   Today I took pictures of students writing. As you can see all students have word cards. They are encouraged to use them to fix spelling.

There are 3 types of words when you write.
  • Words you know how to write down quickly.
  • Words you can find around the class.(word cards)
  • Brave words- those bigger words you have to sound out carefully.

This week we have been learning how to read to buddy.
We learn't that we have to sit EEKK which mean elbow to elbow knee to knee.
We also made some rules to reading to a buddy that we put on a chart.

We are implementing a new programme at Manchester Street School called the Daily 5. Here are some pictures of students reading to self.
