Exploring the Nursery

What a Surprise
It's getting out of control in Room G. We have chrysalis all over the room. Two at the top of the curtain, one near the roof and another on a wooden ledge above the nature table. Now we have found one on the microphone!

Caterpillars Escape
The other major news is the chrysalis has opened up and the butterfly has escaped. We didn't find the butterfly for ages but Lilah and Ella saw it sitting on the top window. Mrs Geary opened the window and the butterfly flew away. The butterfly was beautiful it was black and orange.
As we have been writing this blog one of the caterpillars on the curtain has turned into a chrysalis.

No More Food Left
Yesterday we had a problem, the caterpillars had eaten all the leaves off the swan plant and they were searching for food on our nature table. Mrs Geary asked us to bring some pumpkin in case she couldn't get another plant. This morning they were found in some crazy places. Mrs Geary had bought a swan plant, it is so tall. She had to pick up the caterpillars carefully and place them on the leaves. Warwick brought some pumpkin so now they have a choice. Warwick thinks they will eat all the leaves before they go near the pumpkin.

Update : Life on the Swan Plant
Today we watched as a caterpillar ate the leaf the chrysalis was on. We couldn't believe it. The caterpillar who made the chrysalis attached itself to the main vein of the leaf. It's hanging there by a thread. Isn't nature amazing!
